ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT!!

Time goes by very fast, but many of you have already achieved the first part of the key and this week you probably will get another one. Now, time is against us, we need to be as fast as possible, because only three weeks are left for our mission.

As usually, you will find the clues hidden in the book to answer to some special questions or challenges. Remember that one of the most important things will be setting some hidden clues on your timeline. I hope you still have the strength to carry on and complete this important mission.

REMEMBER!

You will find the CLUE ACTIVITIES marked with this symbol * Completing this activity correctly and on time, will give you the points to be exchanged for GRAMS OF STEEL.

The equivalence is 1 POINT = 1 GRAM OF STEEL

The EXTRA POINT exercises give RESCUE POINTS, meaning that they will help you in case you fail in getting your points of the week to gain the grams of steel* (either for a wrong or unfinish activity or for being out of date).

When you get new 5 points you will obtain a part of the key that leads you to a challenge. This also gives you the privilege of not completing one activity on time or correctly the following week. When you have the three parts of the key, steel will became gold and you will discover a big clue or code that will allow you to open the MAGIC BOX where the cure is.

El tiempo pasa muy rápido, pero muchos de vosotros ya habéis conseguido la primera parte de la llave y seguro que esta semana conseguís la siguiente. Ahora el tiempo corre en nuestra contra y necesitamos ser tan rápidos como podamos, pues apenas quedan tres semanas de misión.



Como es habitual, encontraréis las pistas escondidas en los libros para responder algunas preguntas o retos. Recuerda que una de las cosas más importantes será colocar las fechas importantes que vayas encontrando en tu Línea del Tiempo. Espero que todavía te queden fuerzas para seguir y completar esta importante misión.

Encontrarás las actividades que son pistas marcadas por el símbolo * Completar esas actividades a tiempo y de forma correcta te dará puntos intercambiables por GRAMOS DE ACERO.



La equivalencia es: 1 PUNTO = 1 GRAMO DE ACERO

Los PUNTOS EXTRA son PUNTOS DE RESCATE, lo que significa que en caso de que falles o entregues tarde una actividad, te permite recuperar el punto y ganar el gramo de acero correspondiente a una actividad realizada de forma incorrecta o fuera de tiempo.



Cada vez que obtengas 5 nuevos puntos tendrás un trozo de llave que te llevará a una desafío o reto. También te otorga el privilegio de realizar una prueba fuera de tiempo o de forma incorrecta la semana siguiente. Cuando tengas las tres partes de la llave y hayas completado sus retos el acero se convertirá en oro y descubrirás la gran pista con la que abrir la CAJA MÁGICA con la CURA.

THE SPANISH TRANSITION. Task3 Week10

After Franco’s death, on the 20^th of November 1075, Juan Carlos I became king of Spain. He and Adolfo Suarez, who was his prime minister, promoted a series of reforms in order to bring full democracy to our country. This period of reforms and reconciliation of Spanish people that thought differently is known as “The Spanish Transition”, meaning the change from a dictatorship to a democracy and is recognised internationally as an example of reconstructing a good relationship between different political adversaries.

Read and listen on page 64 of your TB and complete your timeline with the events of The Transition.

Complete the challenge on the orange box “Be a historian! “*

You can do this task with a partner. In that case, tell me the name of your partner. You can use the “Meet” application to work with your partner.

LA TRANSICIÓN ESPAÑOLA

Tras la muerte de Franco, el 20 de noviembre de 1975, Juan Carlos I se convirtió en rey de España. Él y su primer ministro Adolfo Suárez promovieron una serie de reformas para traer a nuestro país una auténtica democracia. Este periodo de reformas y reconciliación de los españoles que pensaban diferente se conoce como “La Transición Española”, que significa el cambio de la dictadura a la democracia y es reconocida internacionalmente como un ejemplo de reconstrucción de las relaciones cordiales entre adversarios políticos.

Lee y escucha la página 64 de tu libro de texto y completa tu línea del tiempo con los sucesos que ocurrieron durante la transición.

Ve el recurso audiovisual “Transition and Democracy” en el Aula Virtual Santillana.

Completa el reto que se plantea en el cuadro naranja “Be a historian!” * 

Esta tarea la puedes realizar con un compañero/a. En ese caso debes decirme el nombre de tu compañero/a. También puedes utilizar la aplicación “Meet” para trabajar conjuntamente con él/ella.

After years of crises and isolation after the war, in the 1950s Spain started to be again opener to other countries. This will help the country to develop its economy and also the standard of living of the population, even the dictatorship was still very hard and did not allow people to think and act differently to its directions with strict political control.


Read and listen on pages 62 and 63 of your TB. Do not forget to make a Wordlist in the second reading (you can find one on page 55 of your Activity Book-AB).

Watch the audiovisual resources on Aula Virtual related to the Francoist Dictatorship (The Francoist dictatorship; Evolution of the Francoist Dictatorship, and The Francoist dictatorship: Early and last years).

Complete your Timeline including  the events that happened during the dictatorship and do the following exercises*:

Después de años de crisis y aislamiento tras la guerra en la década de 1950 España comenzó a abrirse más a otros países. Esto ayudará al país a desarrollar su economía y mejorar el nivel de vida de su población, aunque la dictadura era todavía muy severa y no se permitía a la gente pensar y actuar de forma diferente a sus indicaciones y se ejercía un estricto control político.


Lee y escucha las páginas 62 y 63 de tu Libro de Texto. (No olvides ir haciendo tu Wordlist en una segunda lectura (recuerda que tienes una Wordlist de ejemplo en la página 55 de tu Activity Book -AB).

When the Spanish Civil War finished the whole country was destroyed and all the people had very hard times. Everything had to be restored. Franco established a new dictatorship known as The Francoist Dictatorship.

Read and listen about this period on page 61 of your book. You can also ask your parents and grandparents about this part of our history, in case they know or remember those times. (Do not forget to go on writing your Wordlist in the second reading of this page).

Look in a dictionary (book or online) and write your definition of “dictatorship” and do the following exercises*:

Cuando la Guerra Civil terminó el país entero estaba destruido y fueron unos momentos muy duros para todo el mundo. Todo tenía que reconstruirse. Franco estableció una nueva dictadura conocida como: La Dictadura Franquista.

Lee y escucha sobre este periodo en la página 61 de tu libro. Puede también preguntar a tus padres y abuelos sobre esta parte de nuestra historia, es muy posible que lo conozcan y recuerdan cosas de aquellos tiempos. (No olvides ir haciendo tu Wordlist en una segunda lectura de las páginas, también tienes una Wordlist de ejemplo en la página 55 de tu Activity Book -AB)

Busca en un diccionario (libro o online) y escribe tu definición de “dictadura” y haz los siguientes ejercicios*:

Have you reached any part of the key?

To fight against the coronavirus pandemic is not being easy. It seems that we still are far from the goal of this discovery. But there is only a way to do it, to keep going and get the clues hidden in Science. The last two centuries are crucial.

This week will look into the years after the Spanish Civil War. Those were hard times in the beginning, but our grandparents worked hard to accomplish their goals and to have a better life and world for all of us. So now it's our time and we also must persist and work hard to get the cure.

Some of you have obtained the first part of the magic key. Others need to work a little harder to do it.

Please!! Don’t give up!! The world needs you!!

Remember the mission:

At the end of our travel, you’ll get all the clues and then you will have achieved the KEY to open the magic box with THE CURE.

This week the clues are again hidden in the book and other materials you need to answer to some special questions and set on your timeline the hidden clues. 

IMPORTANT: The EXTRA POINT exercises will help you in case you fail in getting your points of the week to gain the grams of steel* (either for a wrong answer or for being out of date), but they do not give you real points, but rescue points.

EVERY TASK WILL SHOW ACTIVITIES WITH THIS SYMBOL * TO INDICATE THAT COMPLETING THE ACTIVITY CORRECTLY DESERVES A POINT OR GRAM OF STEEL.

Every time you get 5 points you will get a part of the key. With those key parts, you will join them to discover a code in order to open the MAGIC BOX. Once you have the key you can guess the code and discover the CURE.

SEGUIMOS CON NUESTRA MISIÓN

¿Has conseguido alguna parte de la llave?

Luchar contra la pandemia del coronavirus no está siendo fácil. Da la sensación de que todavía estamos muy lejos de alcanzar nuestra meta. Pero solo hay un camino para hacerlo, seguir trabajando para obtener las pistas escondidas en la Ciencia. Para ello los dos últimos siglos son cruciales.



Esta semana buscaremos entre los años después de la Guerra Civil. Aquellos fueron tiempos muy duros al principio (yo creo que más que los de ahora). Nuestros abuelos trabajaron muy duro para cumplir sus metas y una vida mejor para todos, así que ahora nos toca a nosotros ser persistentes y trabajar también muy duro para obtener la cura.

Algunos de vosotros ya habéis tenidos suficientes puntos y habéis conseguido la primera parte de la llave mágica. Otros necesitáis trabajar un poco más duro para hacerlo.



¡¡Por favor!! ¡No desistáis! ¡El mundo os necesita!





RECUERDA TU MISIÓN



Al final del viaje tendrás todas las pistas que te permitan obtener la llave que abra la caja mágica donde está LA CURA.



Esta semana las pistas vuelven a estar escondidas en el libro y otros materiales. Necesitarás contestar a algunas preguntas especiales y colocar las pistas escondidas sobre tu Línea del Tiempo.



IMPORTANTE: Los puntos extra te servirán para recuperar otros puntos que no hayas ganado, por no corregir las tareas o por no entregarlas a tiempo, pero por sí solos no aportan puntos (son de rescate).

CADA TAREA TENDRÁ PARTES MARCADAS CON * QUE SERÁN LAS QUE PERMITAN OBTENER PUNTOS. En cada tarea podrás obtener uno o dos puntos.

Con cada 5 puntos (o gramos de acero) obtendrás una  de las partes de la llave con la completarás un código que deberás descifrar para abrir la Caja Mágica. Te iré mandando los trozos y deberás guardarlos hasta completar las tres partes de la llave como en el dibujo. Una vez que tengas la llave podrás descifrar el código y descubrir LA CURA?

War is one of the worst horrors of humanity. In ancient times people usually lived in war and nowadays in some countries still do.

In the last century, Spain lived what is known as the Spanish Civil War.

A “civil war” is a war in which people from the same country fight against each other. That means that the enemy can be your neighbour or even your brother. Some people that lived the Spanish Civil War are still alive, and probably your grandparents still remember something of it.

Read and listen on page 60 of your TB, including the orange box (History facts).

Set on the dates of this page on your Timeline, answer the questions in the orange box p.60, and do the exercise 4 on page 29 of your AB*.

EXTRA: Read and answer the questions on page 111 of your textbook about Gernica (Some information in question 2 needs to be searched on the Internet).

LA GUERRA CIVIL ESPAÑOLA

La guerra es uno de los peores horrores de la humanidad. Antiguamente la gente vivía con frecuencia en guerra y todavía hoy hay muchos países donde lo siguen haciendo.

En el siglo pasado, España vivió lo que se conoce como la Guerra Civil Española.

Una “guerra civil” es una guerra en la que las personas de un mismo país luchan unas en contra de las otras. Eso significa que el enemigo puede ser tu vecino o incluso tu hermano. Algunas personas que vivieron la Guerra Civil todavía viven y seguramente vuestros abuelos aun recuerdan algo de ella.

Lee y escucha la página 60 de tu libro incluyendo el cuadro naranja (History facts).

Sitúa las fechas y sucesos de esta página en tu línea del tiempo, contesta a la pregunta del cuadro naranja y realiza el ejercicio 4 de la página 29 del AB*.

EXTRA: Lee y responde a las preguntas de la página 111 de tu libro sobre el Gernica (la pregunta 2 necesita que busques algún dato en Internet).

SPAIN: BEGINNING XX CENTURY. Task1 Week9

Hello again!!

Do you remember what historical sources are? Along with this project, we will use different ones, such as books, documentaries, memories, pictures, etc.

This week we will work more intensively with our Text Book (TB). Books are good historical sources since they reflect what historians tell us about their investigations.

Have a look to the “You already know!” box on page 56 and Read and listen to pages 57 and 58 of your TB. Do not forget to make a Wordlist in the second reading (you can find one on page 55 of your Activity Book-AB).

Make a list of events and dates that appear on those two pages.

Set those events on your XX century Timeline* (you should have it prepared from last week).

EXTRA point: Do exercises 1 and 2 on page 28 of your Activity Book (AB)

Now think and answer this special question (SQ*):

At the beginning of the XX century… Was Spain a country where everyone had equal opportunities? (Explain your answer).

ESPAÑA: COMIENZO SIGLO XX

Hola de nuevo!!

Recuerdas qué eran las fuentes históricas? A lo largo de este proyecto usaremos diferentes fuentes históricas para ir descubriendo la información que nos interesa, como libros, documentales, recuerdos, imágenes, etc.

Esta semana trabajaremos más intensamente con el Libro de Texto (TB). Los libros son buenas fuentes históricas escritas, pues reflejan lo que los historiadores nos cuentan acerca de sus investigaciones.

Echa un vistazo al cuadro “You already know!” de la página 58 y lee y escucha los textos de las páginas 58 y 59. No olvides ir haciendo tu Wordlist en una segunda lectura de las páginas (también tienes una Wordlist de ejemplo en la página 55 de tu Activity Book -AB)

Haz una lista de sucesos con sus fechas de las que aparecen en las páginas que acabas de leer*.

Sitúa esos sucesos con sus fechas en tu línea del tiempo del Siglo XX (deberías tenerla lista desde la semana pasada).

Punto EXTRA: Ejercicios 1 y 2 de la página 28 del AB.

Ahora piensa y responde a esta pregunta especial*:

¿Era España al principio del S. XX una país donde todos tenían igualdad de oportunidades? (Razona tu respuesta).
